Smith - Warren
Martha Allison Warren and Ashley Brent Smith were united in holy matrimony Saturday, June 11, at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Jerry Kinlaw and the Rev. W. Arthur Warren Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Love Memorial Baptist Church.
Parents of the bride are Arthur and Becky Warren of Benson. She is the granddaughter of Willie Lee Warren of Raleigh, the late William Arthur Warren Sr., Pauline S. Faircloth of Roseboro and the late Alfestus Faircloth.
The groom is the son of Stephen and Laura Smith of Dudley. He is the grandson of Gray and Elizabeth Smith of Dudley, Evelyn Harris of Hollister and the late Robert E. Harris Sr.
Presented in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal strapless gown of organza over satin with a bodice adorned with beads and Schiffli lace. The straight mermaid skirt had a sweep train accented with Schiffli lace.
For her headpiece, she chose a three-tiered elbow-length veil attached to a silver tiara adorned with rhinestones and pearls. She carried a nosegay of fresh vogue roses, stephanotis and pearl sprays.
Maria Warren of Raleigh, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Noelle Warren of Benson, sister of the bride; Paulette Herring of Clinton, cousin of the bride; and Kimberly Furr of Lakeview, friend of the bride.
Stephen Smith was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Brian Smith of Mooresville and Shane Smith of Pikeville, brothers of the groom, and Jeffrey Jernigan of Goldsboro, friend of the groom.
Mattingly Owen, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Jacob Smith, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Vicky Taylor directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Melissa Smith and Tracey Smith, sisters-in-law of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by Mark Gourley of Goldsboro, organist; Paige Vickory of Mount Olive, violinist; and Judy Gourley of Goldsboro, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple will reside in Greenville.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2003 magna cum laude graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is employed as a loan processor with the State Employees’ Credit Union.
The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1999 and Wayne Community College in 2002 with an associate degree in criminal justice technology. He is employed as a state trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Gerald and Joy Owen, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Linda Smith and Debbie Smith, aunts of the groom, served the wedding cake. Brooks Daly and Lindsay Warren, friends of the bride, poured punch.
On June 10, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship hall. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
The bride and her mother held a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 4 at Camille’s of Raleigh. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On May 28, Sheryl McDaniel, Dale Hinman, Evelyn Aranda, Beth Harrison and Amy Creed of Benson United Methodist Church held a miscellaneous shower in the fellowship hall.
BYKOTA Sunday school class of Love Memorial Baptist Church held a miscellaneous shower May 22 in the fellowship hall.
On May 21, Maria Warren, sister of the bride, and Paulette Herring, cousin of the bride, held a lingerie shower at the Warren home.
The Faircloth family, relatives of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower May 7 in the Faircloth family building of Roseboro.
On May 6, employees of the State Employees’ Credit Union of Williamston held a surprise bridal shower.
Melissa Smith and Tracey Smith, sisters-in-law of the groom, held an hour shower April 23 at the home of Stephen and Laura Smith.
