Rascoe - Farmer
Courtney Denise Farmer and Antoine Massey Rascoe were married Saturday, June 11, at 4 p.m.
Pastor Larry M. Johnson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Bear Creek Headquarters Association.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. William Farmer Sr. of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Wooten Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Farmer Sr.
Parents of the groom are Minister Minnie P. Rascoe of Washington D.C., and Henry Massie of Miami, Fla. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Cooper.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal satin gown of diamond white with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was accented with a layered asymmetrical waistline embellished with Swarovski crystals, bugle beads and glass beads. The back bodice had a lace-up corset. The A-line skirt cascaded into a semi-cathedral train accented with crystals and beads.
For her headpiece, she chose a comb of rhinestones enhanced with a two-tiered veil of silk illusion at the edge with crystals and sequins. She carried a cascading white bouquet of roses, lilies, ligianthus stock, stephanotis, ivy and pearls.
Rayvetta A. Smith of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Marci’a Sutton of Hillsborough, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Brandi Hinnant of Raleigh, Jasmine Johnson of Greensboro and Cindy Kier of Durham, cousins of the bride.
Andre’ Rascoe of Hampton, Va., was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were George Prucell and Brian Smith of Washington D.C. and Tory Smith of Hampton, friends of the groom, and Phillip Rascoe of Conway, S.C., and Johnnie Rascoe Jr. of Windsor, cousins of the groom.
Destiny Meads of Goldsboro, godsister of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.
Ashleigh Milledge of Bryans Road, Md., niece of the bride, and Raven Smith of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, were flower girls. Cameron Rascoe of Hampton, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer. Ushers were William Farmer Jr. of Goldsboro, brother of the bride; Jason Garrison of Greensboro and Phillip Garrison of Charlotte, cousin of the bride; Marcus McPhatter and Maurice McPhatter of Raleigh, fraternity brothers of the groom; and Diante’ Hardy of Washington D.C., friend of the groom.
Shirley Jones Richardson of Goldsboro directed the wedding.
A program of wedding music was provided by Michelle Hobbs of Goldsboro, vocalist; Kelvin Alston of Goldsboro, vocalist and pianist; and Melanie Y. Young of Durham, harpist.
After a wedding trip to Hau’ula, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2004 graduate of Elizabeth City State University. She is a member of Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society. She is employed by Wachovia Bank of Raleigh.
The groom graduated from Wilson High School of Washington D.C. in 2000 and Elizabeth City State University in 2003. He is employed as assistant manager with Well Fitness Center of Raleigh.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Officers’ Club. Hostesses were Christy Barfield, Lee Mitchell and KeSha Johnson of Goldsboro, Tiffani Coley of Fayetteville, Danielle Hamilton, Denise Opara and Laquita Lewis of Raleigh, Greta James of Norwalk, Conn., Felicia McKinnon of Knightdale and Andre’a Winfrey of Covington, Ga., cousins of the bride, and Brandi Kellogg and Teasha Wilson of Elizabeth City, friends of the bride. Anne Isler Wilson of Fayetteville was coordinator.
Junior hostesses were Chaunie J. Banks of Atlanta, Ga., Diamond Coley of Fayetteville, Katie Farmer and Katria Farmer of Wilson, Jonece Greenfield and Brianna Hinnant of Goldsboro, Jada Isler of LaGrange, Alexia Opara of Raleigh, Alexis Winfrey and Aliyah Winfrey of Covington, cousins of the bride; Erica Hobbs of Goldsboro, friend of the bride; and Adrienne Milledge of Bryans Road, niece of the bride.
On June 10, the groom’s mother held an after-rehearsal dinner at Shady Grove Church.
Friends of the groom held a bachelor party June 10 in Goldsboro.
On June 4, friends of the groom held a bachelor party in Washington D.C.
Rose Hinnant, godmother of the bride, and Brandy Hinnant, Laquita Lewis and Synora Howard, cousins of the bride held a bachelorette party May 21 at the Hinnant home.
On May 14, Janice Best, cousin of the bride, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Ryan’s Restaurant.
The bride’s mother held a bag and basket shower April 23 at Shady Grove Church.
