Butts - Coker
Rhonda Coker of Goldsboro and Donnie Butts Jr. of Goldsboro were married June 4 at 2 p.m.
Roney Bunn, stepfather of the bride, officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the home of Ben and Diane Strickland.
Roney and Jean Bunn of Kenly and Bill Coker of Goldsboro are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Matthews of Lucama and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roland Coker of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Donnie and Ann Butts of LaGrange. He is the grandson of Gladys Gray and the late Richard Gray of Goldsboro and Inez Butts and the late Earl Butts of LaGrange.
Escorted by her nephew, Michael Cruse, the bride wore a white gown of Duchess silk satin with intertwined double-faced satin ribbon. It had an open neckline accented with spaghetti straps. Ribbons defined the waistline in the front of the bodice and trumpet skirt over a sweep train.
She carried a semi-cascade of hydrangeas, pink roses, blue and yellow irises and white miniature calla lilies accented with purple limonium and Italian ruscus.
Karrie King, daughter of the bride, was maid of honor.
Donnie Butts Sr. was his son’s best man. Ushers were Ben Strickland Jr. and Cameron Strickland, nephews of the groom.
Ally Strickland, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. Kirby Yeargin, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
Sheila Warrick directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Lyndsey Benton, niece of the bride. Katie Strickland and Anna Strickland, cousins of the groom, and Alex Benton, niece of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Tommy Howell, vocalist.
The couple will take a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
The bride is a 1987 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. She is employed as an account manager with RBC Centura.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1985 and East Carolina University. He is employed as a manager with Hughes Supply.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Ben and Diane Strickland.
On June 3, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Steak Barn.
Robin Stilwell, Karrie King and Cindy Lee held a lingerie shower June 2 at Billie’s Restaurant.
On May 31, co-workers of the bride held a bridal shower.
Debbie Kimbrell and Sylvia Smith held an engagement party May 21 at the Kimbrell home.
On April 24, friends and family held a miscellaneous shower at Walnut Creek Baptist Church.
