Batchelor - Seegars
Sallie Randolph Seegars and Robert Dean Batchelor of Greensboro were united in holy matrimony April 16 at 5 p.m.
Thomas Loftis officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Parents of the bride are Neal Weston and Jacque Waters Seegars of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Washington Seegars of Goldsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Arnold of Tarboro and the late Oscar Ledford Waters.
The groom is the son of Murphy Dean and Mary Lou Kornegay Batchelor of Rose Hill. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Batchelor and Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts of Rose Hill and the late Louise Kornegay Sr.
Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory halter gown with an organza overlay. The bodice, A-line skirt and chapel-length train were accented with gold embroidery.
For her headpiece, she chose a cathedral-length extender with rum cording and scattered crystals. She wore a matching blusher over the veil. She carried a bouquet of pale pink and white assorted flowers of ranunculas, lisianthus, parrot tulips, miniature calla lilies and star of Bethlehem accented with spring greenery and hypericum berries.
Rebecca Tayloe Seegars was matron of honor. Laura Taylor Gable was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Forbes Good of Wilson, friend; Dee Ann Whaley Batchelor of Rose Hill, sister-in-law of the groom; and Logan Majette Fisher of Wake Forest and Sarah Hunter Gundlach of Richmond, cousins of the bride.
Murphy Dean Batchelor was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Anthony Graham Batchelor of Rose Hill, brother; Benjamin Weston Seegars of Goldsboro and John Majette Seegars of Raleigh, brothers of the bride; and Brent Lee Glover of Washington and Christopher Allen Herring of Rose Hill, friends.
Harlee Dale Griffin of Castalia and Aiden Mary Hiatt of Baltimore, Md., cousins of the bride, were flower girls. Harley Dean Batchelor, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Mrs. Jasper Warrick Jr. directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Tonya Batchelor. Christy Johnson distributed programs.
Assistants were Mary Ann Mitchell Parker, Margaret Lucille Brown and Susan Helen Novak.
A program of wedding music was provided by Mark Gourley, organist; St. Paul sanctuary bells; Dennis de Jong, trumpeter; and Capital String Ensemble.
After a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple will reside in Greensboro.
The bride is a graduate of Wayne Country Day School and Peace College with a bachelor of science degree in business. She is employed with Seegars Fence Co. Inc.
The groom graduated from Wallace-Rose Hill High School and North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering. He is owner and operator of Seegars Fence Co. Inc. of Greensboro.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club.
On April 16, friends held a wedding day lunch at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Stackhouse of Goldsboro.
Family and friends held a bridesmaids’ luncheon April 15 at the home of Mrs. Jim Parker of Goldsboro.
On April 8, family and friends held a bachelor party at Camp Bryan of Havelock.
Friends of the bride held a casual supper April 2 at the home of Susie Perrine and Harvey Reinhardt of Goldsboro.
On March 19, Mr. and Mrs. Morton Blanchard, Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Fussell, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Herring, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Herring and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Herring held an evening social and dance at Duplin Winery.
Mr. and Mrs. Craig Casteen of Rose Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Batchelor and Marsha Whaley held a pig picking March 12 at the Casteen home.
