MOUNT OLIVE — Amanda Genell Whaley and Casey Lee Anderson pledged their wedding vows Saturday, April 16, at 5 p.m.
Dr. Dennis Atwood and the Rev. Paul Rose officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Jerry and Olivia Whaley of Dudley. She is the granddaughter of D.J. and Genell Whaley of Wallace and the late Oliver and Emma Zettie Griffin of Dudley.
The groom is the son of Douglas and Jean Anderson. He is the grandson of Leslie and Hazel Anderson of Mount Olive, Gladys Lee of Faison and the late John Lee.
Presented in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal strapless gown of kisaki satin. The embroidered bodice was adorned with Swarovski crystals and iridescent beading. The hand-embroidered beads encircled the neckline, dropped waist and hemline. The back of the gown featured an extended row of covered buttons that ended at the dropped waist edge. The A-line skirt cascaded into a semi-cathedral-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a one-tiered fingertip-length veil with a finished edge. She carried a cascade of white gardenias, orchids, roses, stephanotis and pink baby roses.
Sarah Price Roberts of Faison was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Carla Anderson of Faison, Alise Edwards of Washington D.C., Paige Vickory of Mount Olive, Skyler of Jason and Amy Grantham of Seven Springs, friends of the bride.
Douglas Anderson was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were John Anderson of Faison, brother of the groom; Brad Lee of Faison and Dewayne Lee of Mount Olive, cousins of the groom; Tracy Roberts of Faison, friend of the groom; and Mark Whaley of Dudley, brother of the bride.
Allyson Whaley, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Jon Michael Whaley, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
Jennifer Sykes and Cindy Bell, friends of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Doug and Anne Bartlett of Mount Olive, uncle and aunt of the groom. Angela Sides and Cynthia Autry, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Steele Sasser, organist; Michelle Braxton and Angie Mozingo, vocalists; and Paige Vickory, violinist.
After a wedding trip to Acapulco, Mexico, the couple will reside in Faison.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2003 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Southeastern Medical Oncology Center.
The groom graduated from North Duplin High School and James Sprunt Community College. He is employed with the family business, Anderson’s Heating and Cooling.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner reception at Southern Wayne Country Club. Jimmy and Patsy Byrd, friends of the groom, and Branny and Debbie Vickory, friends of the bride, greeted guests. Richard and Mary McKellar, uncle and aunt of the bride, said good-byes. Jewel Autry, Gaynell Barfield, Nona Whitman, Jean Langston, Dorothy Sykes and Dorothea Evans were servers. Hannah Lee and Morgan Whitman distributed bubbles.
On April 15, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
Co-workers of the bride held a bridal shower April 11 at Southeastern Medical Oncology Center.
On April 3, Jenny Jeanes, Susan Overman, Violet Goodson, Gloria Allen, Debbie Vickory and Tina Phillips held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the Jeanes home.
Carla Anderson, Sarah Roberts and Marilyn Roberts held a lingerie shower April 2 at the Roberts home.
On March 25, friends of the groom held a bachelor party in Raleigh.
Carla Anderson, Sarah Roberts and Andrea Mitchell held a bachelorette party March 25 in Raleigh.
On March 19, Patsy Byrd, Michelle Grady and Peggy Coley, friends of the groom, held a lawn and garden shower at the Byrd home.
Charles and Dorothy Sykes and Darwin and Dorothea Evans, friends of the bride, held a celebration dinner March 5 at Walnut Creek Country Club.
On Feb. 13, friends of the couple and Peggy SanFrantello held a floating miscellaneous shower at Mount Olive First Baptist Church.
Nelson and Angie Sides, relatives of the bride, held a sweetheart party Feb. 11 at their home.
On Dec. 12, Sherrie Cogdell and Mary Ann Howell, friends of the bride, held a Christmas shower at the Howell home.
