Tewes-Byrd
Catherine Elizabeth Byrd became the bride of Michael Travis Tewes Saturday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m.
Bill Garner officiated at the double-ring ceremony at New Hope Friends Church.
Parents of the bride are Gene T. Byrd and Catherine Bridgers Byrd of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.S. Bridgers and Ida Mae Byrd Hinson of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Michael Tewes and Cindy McCutheon Tewes of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Irene M. Scott of North Versailles, Pa.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.
Tanya Hardy of Wilmington was maid of honor. Bridesmaid were Amber Chambley Byrd, April Davis, Shonda Drake, Mimi Bridgers, Nora Powell and Jennifer Perkins.
Michael Tewes was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Danny Tewes, Jamie Morgan, Shane Powell, Brooks Horne, Daniel Robinson and Tom Byrd.
Toni Walker directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Rebecca Sanders. James Fisher of Honolulu, Hawaii, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Travis Davis and Sylvia Overman, pianists; April Davis and D.J. Coles, vocalists; Jenny Heim, violinist; and Chester Davis, guitarist.
After a wedding trip to Oahu, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Honolulu.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in English. She was a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Golden Key National Honor Society.
The groom served in the Air Force. He is stationed at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, in the civil engineering squadron.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church family life center.
On Nov. 6, Lillian Bridgers, grandmother of the bride, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Goldsboro Country Club.
Teresa Freeman and Faye Mooring held a bridal shower Oct. 3 at the Mooring home.
