Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell

Tarri Sanonda Uzzell and Jerome Anthony Mitchell pledged their marriage vows Sunday, June 27 at 4 p.m.

Pastor Juanita Crawford, aunt of the bride, officiated at the triple-ring ceremony at Greater St. John Free Will Baptist Church, assisted by Pastor William Mitchell Jr., uncle of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Sandra Uzzell of Goldsboro and Thera and Debra Uzzell of Clayton. She is the granddaughter of William A. Mitchell Sr., the late Pastor Hilda G. Mitchell and the late Eddie B. and Emma R. Uzzell.

The groom is the son of David and Gloria Hurt of Brodnax, Va. He is the grandson of the late Samuel and Emma Mitchell.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with an off-the-shoulder neckline accented with three-quarter-length flared sleeves. The fitted bodice was embellished with re-embroidered Alencon lace, pearls and sequins and ended in a Basque waistline. The back bodice closed with satin bridal buttons. The full skirt was beaded with pearl and sequins and cascaded into a cathedral train.

For her headpiece, she chose a crown of pearls and sequins that extended into a two-tiered veil of silk illusion with a penciled edge.

Patricia Uzzell, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Crystal Raynor of Goldsboro was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Janice Fletcher of Virginia, sister of the groom; Tabitha Jones of Virginia, sister-in-law of the groom; and Betty Johnson, Darlene McDoe, Georgette Dickens and Kenya Frederick of Goldsboro, friends of the bride.

William A. Mitchell Sr., grandfather of the bride, was best man. Groomsmen were Darnell Jones Jr. of Virginia, brother of the groom; Michael Fletcher of Virginia, brother-in-law of the groom; Thera B. Uzzell Jr., brother of the bride; Timothy Mitchell of Atlanta, Ga., uncle of the bride; Malcolm Keith Mitchell of Clayton, uncle of the bride; and Khary Middleton and Uttmore Brevard of Goldsboro, friends of the groom. Ushers were Travares Dozier of Fayetteville, cousin of the bride, and Lawrence Best, Ronnie Barnes and Derrick Manley of Goldsboro, friends of the couple.

Jamiah Uzzell, daughter of the bride, was the miniature bride. Mycah Fletcher, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Joel Crawford, cousin of the bride, was the miniature groom and ring bearer.

Lenora Mitchell and Pastor Juanita Crawford, aunts of the bride, directed the ceremony. Marjorie Dozier, Marilyn Givens and Keshia Mitchell, aunts of the bride; Angela James and Katena Coor, cousins of the bride; and Tosombra Butler, friend of the couple, were hostesses.

A program of wedding music was provided by Michelle Hobbs, Crystal Raynor, Judy Mojica and Richard Phillips, vocalists; Kevin Campbell and Roderick James, vocalists and keyboardists; Darrell Jones, bass guitarist; Andre Curry, lead guitarist; and Alonzo Ferrell, drummer.

After a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple is residing in Goldsboro.

The bride is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and Lenoir Community College with a degree in cosmetology. She is employed with Check-n-Go.

The groom graduated from Brunswick High School and Southside Community College of Virginia with a degree in master cosmetology and barbering. He is employed as a barber at Christ Made A Way Barber Shop.

Following the ceremony, a reception dinner was held at Wood Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

On June 27, the bride’s father and family held a rehearsal dinner at Revelation Mission Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. and Mrs. William Hewett held a wedding shower June 13 at their home.
