MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Crystal Gale Wicker and John Anthony Schultz pledged their wedding vows in a gazebo overlooking the ocean on Saturday, March 13, at 4 p.m.

Dr. Everette Beaver officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Donald and Annette Wicker of Pikeville. She is the granddaughter of Tracy and Elsie Wicker of Goldsboro and Robert Woodley of Sanford and the late Janet Woodley.

The groom is the son of Geraldine Poirier-Schultz of Goldsboro and the late Robert P. Scultz. He is the grandson of the late George and Floria Poirier and the late Joseph and Regina Schultz.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a short-sleeved white designer gown by Gloria Vanderbilt. Beaded Schiffli lace accented the halter-styled bodice and adorned the A-line skirt and train, which featured scalloped edges and matte satin-covered buttons streaming the chapel-length train.

For her headpiece she chose an elbow-length veil trimmed with a corded edge. The tiers were and adorned with Swarvoski crystals and flowed from a crystal and pearl-encrusted comb.

Tammy Person was her sisters matron of honor.

Haleigh Stoudt, niece of the groom, was flower girl.

After a wedding trip to Sunset Beach, the couple resides in Goldsboro.

The bride graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1996 and received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. She is employed with Wayne County Public Schools as a teacher at Southern Wayne High School.

The groom graduated from Rosewood High School in 1996 and is employed by Cooper Bussman of Goldsboro.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at Damon’s Grill at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach.

Mary Ward and the EC department held a bridal shower at Southern Wayne High School.

Diane Godfrey held a bridal shower at her home in Sanford.
