Shelley Louise Gainey and Rick Thomas Bartosik of Cary exchanged promises Dec. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
The Rev. Jerry Jackson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Providence United Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley D. Gainey of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mae Wallace of Pantego, the late Delmar Wallace and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Gainey.
Parents of the groom are Dr. and Mrs. Donald C. Bartosik of Wilmington. He is the grandson of Viola Malin of Schenectady, N.Y., the late Victor Malin, the late Charles Bartosik and the late Golda Rogers.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a two-piece satin ivory wedding gown with a cathedral-length train. The bodice was strapless and adorned at the bust with a single row of sequins and gold embroidery. The full skirt was floor-length with waistline pleats and a matching decorative embroidery that descended to the bottom of the skirt.
For her headpiece, she chose an ivory satin headband adorned with miniature pearls and sequins with a cathedral-length ivory veil and blusher outlined with satin ivory cording. She carried a bouquet of silk ivory roses and baby’s breath.
Melisia Gainey was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were LeeAnn Lee of Gaffney, S.C., Dana Bartosik of Lexington, S.C., Ronna Eubanks and Marilyn Milan Seay of Raleigh, Charla Lee of Clayton and Sallie Fiore of Garner.
Don Bartosik and Chris Bartosik were best men. Ushers were Rick Murray of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Raiford Gainey and Thomas Gainey of Goldsboro. Groomsmen were Rick Murray of Brooklyn, Gary Elefante and Robert Stocking Jr. of Chapel Hill, Raiford Gainey of Goldsboro and Donald Bartosik of Wilmington.
Tracy Arnold, cousin of the bride, was honorary matron of honor.
Alexis Arnold was flower girl. Jordan Arnold was ring bearer.
Betty Gainey directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. John Alligood.
A program of wedding music was provided by Terri Kornegay, pianist; Gerald Herring, organist; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Kornegay, vocalists; and Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Kelly.
After a wedding trip to the Virgin Islands, the couple is residing in Cary.
The bride is a 1995 graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in textile engineering. She is employed as a math teacher at Southern Wayne High School.
The groom graduated from North Carolina State University in 1991 with a degree in electrical engineering. He is employed as a systems engineer with Nortel Networks.
Following the ceremony, a dinner reception and dance were held at Walnut Creek Country Club.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Goldsboro Country Club.
On Dec. 26, Patti Alligood and Tracy Arnold held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Nino’s Italian Restaurant.
The Southern Wayne math department held a bridal shower Dec. 16 at the school.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gainey held an engagement dinner Nov. 23 at Providence United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
On Nov. 16, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Overman held a wedding dinner at their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stocking Jr., Rick Murray, Kimberly Bartosik, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bartosik and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bartosik held a breakfast at the beach and fishing party Nov. 15 at Johnnie Mercer’s Pier of Wilmington.
