PREP GIRLS' GOLF: Gupton claims medalist honors

Ashton Gupton secured medalist honors with a 2-over-par 38 and helped Wayne Country Day emerge victorious during a multi-team meet contested at Lane Tree Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
Karsyn Roberts shot a 40 and Kelly Lewis fired a 41 for the Chargers, who finished with a three-player total of 119. Anna Reimers turned in a 43, followed by Caroline Bryan (62).
Triton finished second in the team portion at 153. Midway took third with a 160. Charles B. Aycock placed fourth with a 162. Wayne Christian (182), Goldsboro (184), Rosewood (186) and John Paul II (212) rounded out the field.
Savannah Strickland led CBA with a 47. Mikayla Floars chipped in with a 52 and Neevah Chase collected a 54.
Wayne Christian got contributions from Annalise Fitzmorris (58), Caroline Jones (61) and Jeysha Baez (63).
Rylie Hales paced Goldsboro with a 57. Mary Archibald had 62, while Rebecca Lanier logged a 65.
Rosewood's scorers were Lexi Lewis (60), Cassidy Morris (60) and Brianna Sutton (66).
