MOUNT OLIVE -- Nationally-ranked University of Mount Olive put up a three-spot during the first inning and eased past in-state region foe Catawba, 6-2, at Scarborough Field on Tuesday evening.
Ricky Surum scored the Trojans' first run on Jose Lopez's single to right-center field. Tony Salvaggio connected on a two-RBI base knock.

Catawba pulled to within 4-2 before the Trojans, ranked No. 2 in the lastest Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division II top 25, answered with RBI contributions from Drew Ellis and Lopez in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Salvaggio ended the day 3-for-4 with three RBI. Ellis and Lopez each provided two hits and combined for three RBI. David Mayo batted 1-for-3.
