SOFTBALL: CBA's Waddell tosses no-hitter against EW

Taylor Waddell threw a no-hitter during Charles B. Aycock's 15-0, mercy-rule triumph over county rival Eastern Wayne on Tuesday evening.
A right-hander Waddell (4-2) yielded two walks and retired seven Warriors on strikeouts inside the circle. At the plate, she batted 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Mookie Powell (RBI), Georgia Parnell (two RBI) and Connor Vinson (RBI) provided two hits apiece. Leah Campbell contributed two hits and an RBI.
Emily Uzzell took the mound loss.
The Golden Falcons have won 33 consecutive meetings against the Warriors since the two merged into conference play in 2001.
Officials halted the game after four innings.
Aycock (9-2 overall) improved to 3-2 in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play, and returns home Friday for a non-conference doubleheader against South Johnston. The teams will play two five-inning games beginning at 4 p.m.
The Warriors (1-13, 1-5) play host to South Central on Friday.
