Anzarya Cobb scored 12 points, snared six rebounds and paced a balanced, start-to-finish attack as Kinston triumphed 47-32 over Eastern Carolina 2-A foe Goldsboro on Tuesday night at Norvell T. Lee Gymnasium.
The victory moved Kinston to 6-7 overall and 1-1 in the ECC on the season.
Cobb led an early Viking surge, scoring at will in the lane, controlling the glass and altering countless shots near the rim. Kinston led 14-5 after the opening quarter and by 13 at the break.
From there, the outcome was academic.
The second half held identical form as the Vikings rotated effectively on defense and held Goldsboro to just seven points in a brisk third stanza.
Kinston's Taliyah Jones worked efficiently to complement Cobb's game-defining effort, scoring 10 points and grabbing two rebounds. Natasia Wooten, Michayla Dove and point guard Sherice Jones rounded out matters for Kinston, combining for 16 points.
Goldsboro was led by sophomore Tziah Kelly, who scored 11 points. Nishiya Applewhite finished with seven points and four rebounds, while sophomore forward McKayla Roberts scored five points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
The loss moved Goldsboro to 4-6 overall, and 2-2 in ECC play.
Both teams are back in action on Friday. Kinston travels to Greene Central, while Goldsboro is the guest of South Lenoir.
