Pfeiffer pulls away late against Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE -- Cameron Walsh punched in three goals and Mount Olive College gave another nationally-ranked team fits at Amon Field on Tuesday afternoon.
But Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer University, listed as No. 8 in the latest USILA Division II poll, departed with a 15-10 victory.
Jake Hancock added two goals for the Trojans, who dropped to 7-5 overall after losing for second time in their last three outings. Matt Shields provided one goal and one assist, while Daniel Shields contributed one goal.
Blake Bennett dished out two assists.
Trailing 7-5, the Trojans put pressure on the Falcons at the start of the second. Nick Sanderson scored less than 2 1/2 minutes into the period, which shaved the deficit to one goal. After a Pfeiffer goal, Hancock found the back of the with just under 11 minutes remaining to make it 8-7.
However, MOC got no closer.
The Trojans closed the third period with a 4-0 run to pull away. In the fourth, the Trojans got within 12-9 on goals by Hancock and Daniel Shields. Jake Duarte closed out the scoring for Mount Olive.
MOC returns to action Saturday at league foe Queens University of Charlotte.
