Eagles sweep Carolina 1-A track meet

Host Rosewood claimed both the boys' and girls' portions of a Carolina 1-A Conference meet with Spring Creek and North Duplin on Thursday afternoon.
The Eagles' boys compiled 95 points and finished ahead of the Gators score of 50. The Rebels tallied 22 points.
Rosewood's Jamari McGowan finished first in the long jump and the 100 meters. The Eagles' Jyonte Raynor (high jump), Brett Jones (110-meter hurdles) Garrett Tyndall (triple jump), Josh Davis (400 meters), Jacob Sasser (300 hurdles) and Dalton Farmer (3,200 meters) each won their respective events.
Rosewood's girls recorded 66 points and Spring Creek was second with 53. North Duplin had 30 points.
The Eagles' Crystal Allen claimed the long jump, the 200 meters and the 400 meters. Alysse Atwell prevailed in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
Brynna Lee won the pole vault and the 800 meters. Kasie Elliot finished first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs.
Rosewood also bested the competition in the 1,600-meter relay.
