Rosewood played down a man and Midway took advantage.
With number-two man Andrew Henn out due to illness, the Eagles fired a team total of 345 in a three-team meet at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
Midway captured the top team score with a 330, while Rosewood settled for a 345.
"Midway nipped us today because they are a very good team," Rosewood head coach Daniel Baynes said. "We were missing a player, but that is not what beat us... Midway played well."
Rosewood standout Nick Adams earned medalist honors with a round of 72. Adams recorded two birdies, on the first and sixth holes, respectively.
Bret Robinson fired an 83 for the Eagles. Jaz Vercelez-Zara (94) and Blake Weaver (96) rounded out the Rosewood total.
"Nick played a great round of golf and was really close to coming in under par," Baynes said. "He missed a couple of short putts that he would normally make and that led to a 72."
Adam Capps led Midway with a 77. Cameron Byrd fired an 81 while teammate Robbie Peterson carded an 84. Zach Hobbs tallied an 88.
Goldsboro finished with a 444 total. Anthony Hooks paced the Cougars with a 102. Dakeem Holloway (108), Austin Howell (116) and Samuel Prairie (118) completed the Goldsboro tally.
Rosewood and Goldsboro return to action March 20 when Spring Creek hosts all six Carolina 1-A Conference teams at Southern Wayne Country Club.
