Right-hander Brooke Bell held Eastern Wayne hitless through three innings, and Charles B. Aycock rolled to an 11-0 victory in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference softball action Tuesday evening.
Bell logged five strikeouts and walked one during her stint inside the pitcher's circle. Ashley Shingleton provided two innings of one-hit, one-strikeout relief for the Golden Falcons, who remained unbeaten in five ECC outings this season.
Reagan Herndon paced Aycock's offense with three hits and two RBI in four at-bats. Bell, Cierra Harris, Jessica Hare (RBI), Misty Edwards, Ivy Hartzell (RBI), Connor Davis (RBI), Amber Rose (two RBI), Kathleen Doughty (RBI) and Shingleton (two RBI) supplied one hit apiece.
Sedonia Scott posted the Warriors' lone hit.
Right-hander Starla Strickland endured the pitching loss for the Warriors. She permitted 11 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and walked three in a complete-game effort.
Officials halted the contest after five innings due to the mercy rule.
C.B. Aycock (7-3 overall) travels to D.H. Conley on today. Eastern Wayne (3-6, 1-3 ECC) is the guest of Triton on Friday.
