Area teams battle in pool

Goldsboro's Logan Cole and Travis Paul, and Charles B. Aycock's Taylor Allen and Bryce Connolly each emerged double winners during a nine-team swim meet contested Tuesday at the Goldsboro Family Y.
Cole, a freshman, touched the wall first in the boys' 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 21.45 seconds) and 100 butterfly (1:03.37). Paul recorded first-place times in the 200 free (2:03.43) and 500 free (5:45.81).
Eastern Wayne's Shane Legg ended up first in the 50 free (24.63) and second in the 100 free (56.51). Teammate Collin Hobbs captured the 1-meter diving event with 210.65 points.
Aycock's Sam Chastain took the 100 backstroke in 1:09.95.
The Golden Falcons' Allen, a senior, captured the girls' 200 free in 2:17.14 and 100 fly (1:12.88). Connolly swam first-place efforts in the 100 free (59.08) and 50 free (27.13). The duo, along with Carrigan Chastain and Nicole McGrath, captured first in the 200 free relay.
Hunt won the girls' and boys' team competition with 159 and 126 points, respectively.
