Warriors dominate SW

Eastern Wayne launched its Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference men's tennis campaign with a 9-0 triumph over archrival Southern Wayne on Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors, unbeaten in four outings this season, swept the singles matches. Second-seeded Aaron Dunmire and third-seeded Eric Barnes each needed a third-set tiebreaker to turn back their respective opponent.
Top-seeded Russell Turner, Mike Barnette, Marcos Machado and Mike Ames also earned a singles point. Turner and Barnette dropped just one game apiece.
Turner-Machado, Barnes-Barnette and Ames-Grant prevailed in doubles.
Eastern Wayne (4-0 overall, 1-0 ECC) continue league play Thursday afternoon at Wilson Hunt. Southern Wayne (3-1, 0-1) travels to Wilson Beddingfield.
First serve is 4 p.m. for each match.
