PRINCETON -- Princeton's C.C. Sanders posted 15 of her 21 points in the fourth period as the Bulldogs defeated North Duplin 58-41 in a Class 1-A Carolina Conference game at home on Friday.

The win improved Princeton (8-11 overall) to 5-4 in conference play heading into Tuesday's game at North Johnston. The Rebels (7-8 overall) dipped to 3-6 against league foes with a match-up at home against Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday.

The 'Dogs led 36-31 going into the fourth, before the Rebels' suffered numerous turnovers down the stretch and ran into foul trouble. Nicole Hargis added 12 points for Princeton.

Lauren Blackmore paced North Duplin with 15 points, while Sierra Ward scored 14 for the Rebels.

Farmville gets revenge on NJ

FARMVILLE -- Farmville Central got payback in a big way Friday night.

The Jaguars women's basketball team took control of a close game in the second quarter and cruised to a 56-40 victory over visiting North Johnston, which had beaten Farmville earlier this season in Kenly. The win leaves both teams with 7-1 Carolina Conference records.

Farmville Central standout Megan Zullo finished with a game-high 19 points in front N.C. State women's coach Kay Yow, who watched from the stands when she wasn't busy signing autographs for several Farmville fans. Zullo is entertaining thoughts of going to play for the Wolfpack women once her prep days are finished.

North Johnston led the Jaguars (15-2) early on, taking an 11-8 lead late in the first quarter on an Amanda Pope layup. But Farmville proceeded to go on a 18-4 run and took a 26-15 lead on a Meaghan Vanderhorst free throw with 3:29 to play in the first half. The Jaguars led 31-20 at halftime.

Helen Moore caused some problems for Farmville's defense, pouring in a team-high 17 points, mostly on rebounds and putbacks or layups after the Panthers (11-7, 7-1) had beaten the Jags press. Lakisha McFadden added nine points for North Johnston.

The Panthers host Princeton next Tuesday.

Eagles win

eighth straight

Wayne Christian's JV girls posted their eighth win Friday Night at home with a 46-8 win over Johnston Christian Academy.

Brittany Sullivan led all scorers with 13, followed by Logan Dawson with eight.

The Eagles (8-2) face Johnston Christian again Tuesday at Selma.

Middle schools

Dillard girls 41, Spring Creek 21 -- Akeyanna Whitlor 20 points. Laquitia Holmes 10. Dillard (9-5, 6-2 Division II) final game.

Eastern Wayne girls 33, Norwayne 29 -- Lindsey Frederick led the Warriors with 12 points and six steals, while Zhanea Charles had 11 rebounds and 8 points. Eastern Wayne (10-3) takes on Goldsboro in its final game on Monday.
