She had a huge heart for everyone in her family and her many friends that she met along the way. Ellen’s special outreach hobby was her card ministry; she sent thousands of cards to family and friends to let them know she was thinking of them and that she cared.

The family will gather with friends Sunday, Sept. 9, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to remember her life will be held at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Following the graveside service, an after funeral reception will be at 5 p.m. at Cabin Free Will Baptist Fellowship Hall in Beulaville, N.C. All family and friends are invited to attend this celebration of her life.

Left to cherish all of the fond memories shared with her are her brothers, Macon Mercer and wife, Joyce and Donald Mercer and wife, Kris; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews; stepson, Don (Bud) Skelly Jr.; and stepdaughters, Carol Brinkley, Debra Howell, Donna Seidel, Allison McCullough and Heather Suarez; many step-grandchildren; and step-great grandchildren; and very special long time caregivers and friends Paula Fields and Karen Overton.
