Sept. 5, 1949-Aug. 13, 2018

Leslie Milton Isler Jr., affectionately known as Les or June, was born Sept. 5, 1949, in Goldsboro, N.C., to the late Leslie M. Isler Sr. and the late Annie M. Newkirk Isler. He departed this life peacefully Aug. 13, 2018.

Les was the youngest of two children, and attended Wayne County public schools. He graduated from Dillard High School class of 1967.

Shortly after, he joined the United States Air Force, and served for 10 years.

He was later hired by the Employment Security Commission in Raleigh, N.C., for several years before relocating to Maryland.

Once he arrived to the D.C. metropolitan area, Les transitioned careers to a training specialist with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He dedicated 29 of service before he retired June 30, 2016.

Les was a devoted dad, brother, uncle and friend.

He was an unconventional sports fan, as he frequently changed teams depending on their record the previous season.

He also loved music and movies as his collection of DVDs and CDs would put some retail stores to shame. Les particularly enjoyed the movie “Titanic”, as he would always receive invitations to go on cruises with friends, but politely decline after watching that movie.

According to his daughter, Leslie, there is nobody who could fry a pork chop better than him. And he had a very contagious laugh and quirky sense of humor.

Leslie was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Jacqueline Elizabeth Isler, who was called home Jan. 19, 2012.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Leslie Ann, Celeste and M’Chai; five grandchildren; one niece, Michelle Anderson (Tony); two great-nieces, DeOnna Anderson-Washington(Trey) and Kharmon Anderson; one great-great-niece, Elizabeth Michelle Anderson; many cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was in held in remembrance of Leslie Milton Isler Jr. Aug. 30, 2018, in Suitland, Md., at Marshall-March Funeral Home.

His final resting place will be Elmwood Cemetery in Goldsboro, N.C.

The family will receive friends at a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018.
