Ruby Wilkins Floars, 91, Goldsboro, passed away Monday at the home of her daughter in Princeton.

Ruby was born in Johnston County July 25, 1927, and was the last surviving daughter of the late Barney and Dora Bridgers Wilkins.

She was married for 50 years to the late Alstyne E. Floars.

Ruby was a valued employee of Southern Bell for 33 years, and was a member of the Telephone Friends and Pioneer Club.

She was a faithful member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church. Ruby was a true Christian lady who loved God and lived each day showing those around her what faith in action is all about.

She will be remembered by many as caring, giving, loving and determined lady.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Ruby’s life at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Herring of Princeton and Delores Blakeney and husband, Tommy, of Winterville; grandchildren, John and Angie Blakeney, Jennifer and Joel Mullen, Jason and Rebecca Blakeney and Amy Herring; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Vernon A. Floars; grandson, Brian C. Herring; sister, Estelle Woodard; and brothers, Frank, Emmett, Lenly, Raymond and Harvey Wilkins.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff of 3HC for the love and care it provided for Ruby during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.
