Connie Brannan Jackson, 70, Mount Olive area resident, passed away very peacefully Sunday morning, Sept. 2, while surrounded by her family at Duke Hospital in Durham.

She was very courageous in her fight with cancer. She exhibited tremendous strength during her life, especially throughout her sickness, and was most proud of her family.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her family, which includes her husband, Neil Jackson of the home; her father, Wilbert Brannan of Selma; a daughter and son-in-law, Victoria Lee Jackson Carter and Kevin Carter of Cary; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Neil Jackson and Lara Jackson of Mount Olive; a granddaughter, Lilly Katherine “Lilly Kate” Carter of Cary; her twin brother, Ronnie Brannan of Selma; a sister and brother-in-law, Vickie B. Richardson and George Richardson of Selma; and a special family friend and caregiver, Brenda Graham Jones of Eureka.

Her mother, Frances Brannan, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jackson was retired from South Johnston High School, where she had been an administrative assistant, and following this career, she joined her husband in the operation of Jackson Auto Brokers.

The Jackson family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with pastor Jeff Dail officiating, followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery.
