JANICE PITTMAN GURLEY

Janice Pittman Gurley, 85, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully at Eagles Pointe Friday.
Janice was born in Johnston County to the late J. Hugh Pittman and Lillie Hopkins Pittman.
She was the devoted wife of Ralph A. Gurley for more than 59 years.
Janice was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends and especially shopping for antiques.
Janice was a valued employee of Ernest Glass Co. in Goldsboro for 20 years.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Janice's life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Wayne White officiating. Burial will follow in Hephzibah Cemetery in Princeton.
Janice was a loving mother to her daughter, Olivia "Libby" Gurley Best and husband, Richard Dale Best, of Newport, and her son, Doug Gurley and wife, Debbie, Chasse of Goldsboro.
She loved spending time with her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Betty Creech of Selma; her sister-in-law, Doris Pittman of Selma; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Linda King of Princeton and Roger and Ruth Matthews of Wilson Mills.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eula Dale and Ruby Wood, and brothers, Melvin Pittman, J.D. Pittman, Charles Pittman and Paul Pittman.
