Earnest Eugene Lovings, 83, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday evening at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Ernie was born in Danville, Va., Jan. 15, 1935, to the late Hugh Ernest Lovings Jr. and Nina Ruth Scott Crouthamel.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. by the graveside at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.
The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at his home.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Jeanne Lerch Kirby Lovings; son, Barry Lovings and wife, Terry, of Mooresville; daughter, Debora Ilaban of Hilo, Hawaii; granddaughters, Valeri Baucom, Shanon Borek and Natalie Ilaban; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Joan Robbins of Forest City; stepchildren, Steven Kirby and wife, Tracy, of Aurora, Colo., and Kathryn Kirby of Denver, Colo.; seven stepgrandchildren; and his very special pet companion, MiMi.
