PEGGY PITTMAN GORE

June 13, 1932-Feb. 17, 2018

Peggy Pittman Gore passed away on the morning of Feb. 17.

Ms. Gore was born June 13, 1932, in the District of Columbia to Robert W. Pittman and Martha Pauline Price.

Ms. Gore was a graduate of Goldsboro public schools and the nursing school at James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

After retiring from nursing, Ms. Gore taught line dancing at the local department of aging for 20 years, where she met many cherished friends whom she liked to call her "children."

Deceased are husbands, Robert Macon Rice Jr. and Harry Scott Gore, as well as brother-in-law, Richard Darden, and son-in-law, Kenneth Marshall Singleton.

Ms. Gore is survived by sisters, Barbara Darden and Mary Jo McMillan; brother-in-law, Gary McMillan; son, Robert Macon Rice III; daughter, Leslie Susan Singleton; grandchildren, Jamie Michelle Lee, Jeffory Jaelyn Lee and Nathaniel Macon Rice; and precious great-granddaughter, Jahcelyn Laylalee Grady.

The family will receive friends at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, 1401 S. College Road in Wilmington, March 10 from 1 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of bringing them to the service, Ms. Gore instead asked that you buy flowers for your best friend. Just as her nursing school annual stated, "she has as many fine points as a pack of pens."
