HAROLD MATTHEW HERRING

Harold Matthew Herring, 94, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Harold was born in Wayne County May 12, 1923, to the late Matthew and Rose Herring. He was married for almost 74 years to the late Mabel Inez Sauls Herring.
Harold was a longtime member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.
Harold was a hardworking man, which was the theme of his life; he lived to work.
He was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service in the chapel at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Liz Hounshell officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Harold is survived by his children, Anne Stocks, Lisa Herring, Kenneth Herring and Glenn Herring all of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Leigh Tillman, David Stocks, Jennifer Stocks and Kathy Merritt; nine great-grandchildren, Leiren Tillman, Matthew Tillman, Hunter Tillman, Travis Merritt, Brandon Merritt, Ra'Chel Stocks Alexander, Schoen Stocks, Annette Stocks and Kristen Stocks; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Herring; three sisters; and two brothers.
