Mr. Alex Malpass, 94-year-old Mount Olive area resident, passed away Monday night, Feb. 19, at Wayne Hospital.

Mr. Malpass was first and foremost a child of almighty God, having placed his trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He was a longtime member of Salem Advent Christian Church, where he served in many capacities through the years.

A veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II, he was retired from E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. in Kinston.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lois Lane Malpass of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Patti Westmoreland Malpass of Cary, N.C., and Stanley Malpass of Pink Hill, N.C.; five grandchildren, Stan Malpass and wife, Chelsea, John Malpass, Allison Malpass Lynch and husband, Seth, Kristen Malpass Ennis and husband, Nathan, and David Malpass; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Caleb and Cam Malpass, Braden, Eliana, Karis and Lucas Lynch and Harper and Kylie Ennis; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Malpass was preceded in death by his parents, Hanson Rufus Malpass and Alice McAllister Malpass; his 12 older siblings; and a daughter-in-law, Janie Strickland Malpass.

The life of Mr. Alex Malpass will be remembered in a service Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. Dr. Larry Withrow will officiate, with visitation following.

Family and friends may also call at the Malpass residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Cure for the Colors, c/o Southeastern Cancer Center, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
