Retired Sgt. Maj. James Franklin Bell III was born June 24, 1965, to Betty Jean Bell and the late James Bell in Goldsboro, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Franklin Bell Sr.; son, James Franklin Bell IV; and a brother, James Franklin Bell Jr.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Vanessa; daughter, Nikita; grandson, James Franklin Bell V; mother, Betty Jean Bell of Dudley, N.C.; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Betty Lawrence of Franklinton, N.C.; sisters, Pamala Jones (Keith) of Pikeville, N.C., Deania Samuels (Ronnie) of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Antoinette Bass of Dudley, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Gloria Lawrence and Sharon Spivey (Alfred) both of Franklinton, N.C., and Samantha Holding (Paul) of Creedmoor, N.C.; aunts, Gertha Dean Bell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Brenda Duru (Clement) of Miami, Fla., JoAnne Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Brenda Neeley (Gary) of Clarksville, Tenn., and Sandra Dixon, Jackie Dailey (Walter) and Bridgette Carter (Clifton) all of Dayton, Ohio; and uncles, Morris L. Bell (Rosanna) of West Palm Beach, Fla., Henry Bell (Flo Ann) of Lake Worth, Fla., Larry Bell of Canoga Park, Calif., George Austin (Wendy) of Dudley, England, Ruben Gooch (Ann) of Queensland, Australia, and Ricky Gooch (Denise) of Dayton, Ohio.

Frankie loved all of his uncles very much, but shared a special relationship with his Uncle Morris.

He was loved and admired by his nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.

Services was 2 p.m. Feb. 10 at Fort Lee Memorial Chapel, 10600 Sisisky Ave., Fort Lee, Va. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
