Thomas Gordon Harrell, 81, passed away Tuesday at Wayne UNC Healthcare surrounded by his family,
He was the son of the late Milford and Inez Harrell and stepmother, Ruth Harrell, and the widow of the late Kaye Harrell.
Gordon was a member of Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a retired truck driver for Goldsboro Milling.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jonathan Altman officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service and at other times, at Gordon's residence.
Entombment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Harrell is survived by a daughter, Sharon Willoughby and husband, Roy, of Kenly; brothers, Jordan Harrell and wife, Mary Lois, and Clark Harrell and wife, Hilda, all of Mount Olive; a sister, Betty Yount and husband, Dr. Bill Yount, of Durham; a granddaughter, Rebecca Whitley; his caretaker, Johnnie Easley; and his beloved dog, Molly.
The family would like to express its great appreciation to the 7th floor nurses at Wayne UNC Healthcare for their care of Gordon.
