TONY KENNEDY

Anthony Ray "Tony" Kennedy, 56, passed away Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Tony was born in Wilson County Nov. 21, 1961, to Ashley and Ann Smith Kennedy of Pikeville.

He was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church and the Crusaders for Christ Sunday school class.

Tony was well known for his work at JCPenney for 10 years.

He was a warrior, and he fought for his life until the last minute. Tony accepted his illness with grace, dignity and humbleness, and used his condition to lift others.

A service to celebrate Tony's life will be held Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Barry Williamson officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Interment will be Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his brother, Gregory Kennedy and wife, Amanda, of Pulaski, N.Y.; nephews, Shaun Kennedy, Christopher Kennedy, Colby Kennedy and Shane Kennedy; and five great-nieces and nephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Perry and Pearl Smith, and his paternal grandparents, Iredell and Dessie Kennedy.
