Mr. Jenness Merrill Windham, 78, Snow Hill, died Monday morning, Dec. 18, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Pitt County Oct. 27, 1939, he was the son of William and Katie Bibbs Windham.
Jenness was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force for eight years and then in the National Guard for 22 years.
In his retirement, Jenness was fond of working in his yard, enjoyed fishing and dearly loved his pets.
His surviving family includes his wife, Shelly Rose Howell Windham of the home; son, Paul Windham of Kinston; granddaughter, Lyndsy Windham; a brother, Gene Windham and wife, Annette, of Falkland; mother-in-law, Grace Howell of Snow Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Snow Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service Wednesday and other times at the home of Grace Howell, 1086 Free Gospel Road, Snow Hill.
