JEAN WEATHERS CARR

Jean Weathers Carr, 86, Pikeville, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro surrounded by her family.
Jean was born in Lauderdale County, Ala., Dec. 10, 1929, to the late James Edward Weathers and Jewel Marie Ramsey Weathers. She was married to the late Thomas Wilson Carr.
Jean retired from K-mart department store in Athens, Ala., after 16 years of service.
Jean loved Brogden United Methodist Church and Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life.
She had a large extended circle of family and friends, and they were all very special to her. She will be missed, but greatly remembered.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 22, 2016, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Jean's life at 8 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Barry Williamson, the Rev. Kelvin Gurley and the Rev. Stephanie Forte officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, in Wayne Memorial Park.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Sharon Marriner of Pikeville and Diane James and husband, Steve, of Pikeville; sons, Douglas Edward Sutton and friend, Coleen, of Goldsboro and Dwight Houston Sutton and wife, Elizabeth, of Pikeville; brother, Jerry Don Weathers and wife, Dorothy, of Athens, Ala.; grandchildren, Jennifer James Hooker, Lindsey Sutton, Courtney Sutton, Thomas Douglas Sutton II, Bo Sutton and Brantley Sutton; great-grandchildren, Jakob Lassiter, Hailee Lassiter, Mya Harbaugh, Ceciyla Hooker and Allen Alviso; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Julian Clark Weathers; grandson, Bryan Alviso; and granddaughter, Shanna Shaffer.
