Hilda Marie Benson, 81, Virginia Beach, Va., died Sunday, March 20, 2016.
She was born Feb. 15, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Cooper Alton Gurley and Willie Mary Starling.
She was the widow of Thomas Walter Benson, and was preceded in death by a son, Garry Thomas Benson, and brother, Alton Ralph Gurley.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Casey Funeral Home. The committal service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Princeton Cemetery.
She is survived by daughters, Ava Lorretta Ballard and husband, Walter, of Virginia Beach and Becky Marie Pulley and husband, Jared, of Virgina Beach; son, Scott Benson and wife, Lori, of Virgina Beach; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Glenn Gurley and wife, Barbara, of Kinston; and sisters, Hazel "Jackie" McKeel of Yorktown, Va., Grace Best and husband, Henry, of Goldsboro, Gail Dale and husband, Bobby, of Princeton and Vickie Horne and husband, Carl, of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends beginning at 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Casey Funeral Home.
