Alexander Warren Thompson, 37, Smithfield, died Sunday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Roger Banks officiating.
He was born June 9, 1978, in Richmond County, Va., to Christina Weidemann Jones.
He is survived by a son and a daughter.
