Alan Perry Grady Jr., 28, Kinston, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at his home.
He was preceded in death by paternal grand-father Joseph Perry Grady and maternal grandmother Jean Stafford.
Alan had a bachelor's degree in environmental science and an associate degree in the arts.
Alan loved everything dealing with nature and the environment.
Alan had a strong belief in conservation and protecting what he thought was the right thing to do. He loved animals and gardening, and took pride in his plants. Alan looked for the good in the world, but tired too soon of the search.
He is survived by his parents, Jessica Ann Locklear and husband, Jason Locklear, of Kinston and Alan Perry Grady Sr. and wife, Lynnette, of Grifton; paternal grandmother, Patricia Outlaw and husband, Wendell, of Kinston; paternal great-grandmother, Lucille Grady of Mount Olive; brothers, Christopher Grady of Pink Hill and Brooks Grady of Grifton; and his beloved dog, Gunner.
The visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 5, from 11 a.m. to noon, with the funeral service to follow, all at Tanglewood Church, with pastor Alan Ham and Allen Stocks officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lenoir County SPCA.
