Sarah Ann Heath Spence, 61, died peacefully Friday morning Jan. 29, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill surrounded by her family.

Sarah was born in Wayne County, N.C., on Aug. 18, 1954.

She will be remembered for her kind nature and endless love of her family.

She was a faithful servant of the Lord who was always willing to help others.

She worked at Textilease of Goldsboro for many years. She then continued her career at Skill Creations of Goldsboro until 2015.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Rosewood Church of God, 100 Tower Lane, Goldsboro, N.C.

Bishop Thomas McLendon and Bishop Jeffrey Barnes will officiate.

Sarah is survived by her husband of 41 years, Michael Spence; sons, Robert Anthony “Tony” Spence and his fiancé, Melissa Billera, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jeffery Spence and wife, Michelle Spence, of ­Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Sabra-Lynn Hoffman and Jared Howington, both of Kinston; a great-grandson, Landon Hoffman of Kinston; a sister, Brenda Simpson and special friend, David Loflin, of Lucama; a brother, Elliott Potter, of Jacksonville and a sister-in-law, Donna Potter of Surf City.

She is also survived by two very special best friends, Glenda Strickland of Seven Springs and Lori Wells Mobley of Goldsboro and several very special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Robert Lee Heath and Sarah Ellen Gardner Heath, and the mother who raised her, Nancy Heath, who developed a special, uncommon bond with Sarah; a sister, Kay Howell; and her grandparents, Winnifred Proctor, Cora Heath and Jim Heath.

She will also be reunited with Peanut, a dachshund who joined the family after mother Nancy’s passing.

Memorials may be made to Rosewood Church of God, 100 Tower Lane, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church and at other times at the home.
