MOUNT OLIVE -- Elton Glenn "Skinner" Jones Sr., 80, Smith Chapel community, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 22, 2014, at Wayne Hospital.
Services will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Leland Heath Jr., with visitation following. Burial service will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Friends and relatives are also welcome to call at the residence.
His parents were the late John Leslie and Addie Wolfe Jones, and he was one of their five sons.
His working career involved farming, employment with Wilson Motor Co. and later, Mt. Olive Pickle Co., where he was a maintenance technician, and after retirement, a security officer.
He is survived by three sons, Glenn Jones and wife, Renee, Robbie Jones and wife, Lou Ann, and Frank Jones all of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Anna Jones Matthews and husband, Patrick, and Jeremy Jones all of Mount Olive and Heather Jones Padgett and husband, Richard, of Princeton; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Regan Padgett; the mother of "the boys," Betsy G. Jones of Mount Olive; a brother, J.L. Jones, and his family of Mount Olive; and the families of his late brothers, Ruel Jones, Hurley "Shorty" Jones and Curtis "Pete" Jones.
Arrangements are being handled by Tyndall Funeral Home.
