EUGENE LANE

DUDLEY -- Eugene Lane, known to most as Gene, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Thursday morning, Oct. 17, 2013. Death came while he was in the familiar and comfortable surroundings of his home.
Gene was born April 26, 1934, in Wayne County to the late Bruce and Addie Brogden Lane.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra L. and David Hensley, and two grandchildren, Alisha and Brian Hensley.
He was the loving husband to Mable Witherington Lane, his wife of 57 years; a loving daddy to daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis L. and Stan Davis of Goldsboro and Debra L. and Jimmy Coor of Willow Springs; and special grandpa to Christopher and Matthew Davis and Justin and Cheryl Coor.
He was a loving brother to Hilbert "Bud" Lane of Dudley, and dear uncle to nephews, Bert Lane and wife, Pam, and Michael Lane and wife, Daly.
Gene was a member of Indian Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church, and he had served in the United States Army.
He enjoyed a career in land development.
Visitation and fellowship was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and at other times at the residence.
A service of remembrance was held at the graveside at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs. Chaplain Allen Strickland officiated.
In lieu of flowers, it is the request of the family that memorial gifts be made to Indian Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Barbara Price, 2440 Piney Grove Church Road, LaGrange, N.C., 28551.
