ROBERT A. MOORE

GRIFTON -- Robert Alfred Moore, 68, Commander USNR Retired, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012.

A service of remembrance will be held today, May 27, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange, with the Rev. William Neiman and the Rev. David Cox officiating. Interment with military honors will be held Monday, May 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Hill Cemetery.

Robert was born Sept. 2, 1943, in Pitt County to the late William Edward Moore II and Elizabeth Kennedy Moore. Robert served 31 years with the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a charter member of the Greenville Fleet Reserve Association and a lifetime member of the Ayden-Grifton VFW. Robert was an avid amateur radio operator and volunteered with the Eastern Emergency Operations Center. Robert retired from Delphi where he worked as a senior plant engineer. He received undergraduate and master's degrees from East Carolina University. Robert attended First Christian Church of Grifton.

Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rachel Overman Moore; two sons, Robert Alfred Moore II and wife, Elizabeth, of Chehalis, Wash., Patrick Joseph Moore of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Ashley Moore and Johnathon Thomas; brother, William Edward Moore III and wife, Judy, of Suffolk, Va.; along with special family friends, golfing partner, Al Bremer of Grifton, his friends of VP-93 and Crew 6; Joy and Dean Oglesby of Morehead City, Jennifer and Scott Moore of Concord and Allison and Mike Rae of Aberdeen, Scotland.
