C.H. OVERMAN JR.

AYDEN -- The Rev. C.H. Overman Jr., 81, went to be with his Lord May 23, 2012.
He was born Oct. 31, 1930, to the late Clarence Henry Overman Sr. and Fannie Bass Overman.
At the age of 14, C.H. joined Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where his lifelong career with the Free Will Baptist denomination began. In 1952, he was ordained into the ministry, and had spent the last 60 years serving as a Free Will Baptist minister.
He graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1957 with a degree in religion, and had held numerous pastorates throughout eastern North Carolina.
Rev. Overman was most recently a member of Rose Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church.
C.H. also taught in the public school system for 20 years, and was a member of Ayden Rotary Club for 31 years.
C.H. was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Janice Howell; and a brother, Quentin.
He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Ruby N. Overman of the home; two sons, David Howell "Hal" Overman and wife, Lisa, of Greenville and Jeffrey Allen and wife, Jenean, of Four Oaks; two daughters, Jeanne Overman Gaylor and husband, Greg, and Tina Mann and husband, Larry, all of Ayden; two sisters, Athalene Pittman of Fremont and Janice Vick of Currituck; five grandchildren, Cody and Carly Gaylor, Jena Allen and Logan and Macy Mann; many special nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
His dedication to serving his Lord has enabled him to touch countless lives, where his memory will fondly be remembered.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Ayden Free Will Baptist Church in Ayden. Burial will take place the same day at 2 p.m. in Pikeville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Service in Ayden.
