PORDIS "PAUL" WADE SR.

Mr. Pordis "Paul" Wade Sr. was born to the late Mr. John Allen Wade and the late Mrs. Calena Rowe Wade Sept. 1, 1940, in Wayne County. He departed his earthly life May 4, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
He attended Greene County schools.
In the 1970s, he began his truck driving career in which he drove for 28 years and had a CB handle "the Hammer Head."
After being forced to take an early retirement, Paul decided to start his own lawn care service -- Paul's Lawn Care.
He was a member of Potter House United Holy Church in Goldsboro, under the leadership of pastor Shirley Cox. He was also the father of the gospel group, The Wade Sisters of Goldsboro, better known as his "Girls."
He was known as a king fisherman at Bogue Pier in Morehead City.
He was multi-talented and very handy when it came to fixing things. If he couldn't fix it, he would simply say, "You need to get another."
Paul met no strangers; everyone was either his cousin or he grew up with them.
Paul was proceeded in death by the mother of his 11 children and former wife, Thelma Grace Waters-Wade; three sons, Milton Ray Wade, Daniel Lee Wade Sr. and Tony Parnell Wade; a daughter, Mary Magdalene Wade-Griffin; and three brothers, John Allen Wade Jr., Will Wade and Milton Wade.
He leaves to cherish his everlasting memories five daughters, Vanessa (Willie) Thomas of Goldsboro, Patricia (Fredrick) Steele of the home and Velma Wade, Lisa Wade, and Portia (Felix) Acevedo all of Goldsboro; two sons he loved dearly, Pordis (Michelle) Wade Jr. of Goldsboro and Christopher (Darlene) Wade; a daughter-in-law, Dalphine Wade; a son-in-law, Carlos Griffin; three sisters, Dorothy Wade, Annie Hargrove and Shirley (Joe) Cox; three brothers, Tim Wade of Kinston, Mr. Curtis (Annie) Wade Sr. of Dudley and Clinton Rowe of Atlantic City, N.J.; 28 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family will be receiving friends at 109 Heather Glen Drive, Goldsboro, where it will also be assembling for the funeral procession
A visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Inc. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Headquarters Association Building, 1800 S. Slocumb St. Immediately following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Wade's delicate temple, along with his adored family, will be escorted by E.M. Matthews angelic white fleet to Old Mill Cemetery for interment rites.
Mr. Wade's earthen temple is resting peacefully at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Inc., where the Wade and connected families are receiving prestigious service.
