Mr. Johnnie Lee Thompson, 71, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Johnnie," 1209 S. Best St., Goldsboro, departed his earthly life peacefully Monday, May 7, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Johnnie was born in Philadelphia, Pa.,
Dec. 31, 1940, to the late Thelma McIntyre and William Thompson.

He was educated in the public schools of Philadelphia, Pa.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 11, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Greenleaf Christian Church, 2110 N. William St., Goldsboro. The Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II will officiate. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South in Dudley.

Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, May 10, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends and other family members from 5 to 6 p.m.

Mr. Thompson leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories his wife, Brenda Smith Thompson; three daughters, Angela Thompson, Mandisa Thompson and Keshia Smith; a son, David Thompson and wife, Amber; four brothers; three sisters; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will assemble at the home one hour prior to the funeral at 9:50 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
