HARRY J. GRADY

A celebration of life for Harry James Grady will be held today at 4 p.m. at Outlaw's Bridge Universalist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 3 p.m. and after the burial. Harry was the son of Edna Joyce and McKinley Grady and died after a brief battle with cancer.
In 1962, Harry was in the last B.F. Grady High School graduating class. He served voluntarily in the U.S. Navy from 1964 until 1968, with basic training at Great Lakes, Ill., and radio school at Bainbridge, Md. Harry served a year in Vietnam, where he was a Radioman 2nd-class on a Swift Boat headquartered at a Navy barge in Danang Harbor. Patrolling the coast around Danang and the Perfume River downstream from Hue, up to the "DMZ," his crew came under fire and returned same. Grady earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Never having married, Harry's survivors include one sister, Barbara Grady; one brother, Phil Grady and his wife, Kathy; two nieces, Teresa Quinn and Hannah Randall; two nephews, Ansen and Luke Grady; six great nieces and nephews, Jessica, Keelan, and Cannan Quinn; and Mason, Ireland, and Maddox Grady; three aunts, Maebelle Outlaw Grady, Inez Grady Tatum and Rachel Taylor Outlaw.
Arrangements are being handled by Pink Hill Funeral Home.
