HAMPSTEAD -- Karen Turnage Tyndall, 63, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at her home.

Karen was born in Lenoir County on Sept. 3, 1948, to the late James Henry Turnage and Alene Rouse Yelverton. She had worked for many years with the Clerk of Courts office serving in Wayne, Lenoir and New Hanover counties. After she retired from the court system, Karen began working with Farm Bureau Insurance. She lived a life of grace and Christian love, and it was never diminished by the sickness she endured. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered by everyone that knew her.

A service to celebrate Karen's life will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. John Strickland and the Rev. Gerald Holloman officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Snow Hill Cemetery.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ronnie Tyndall; her daughter, Lea Ann Robinson and husband, Chris; her sisters, Kathy Edmundson and husband, Leonard, Libby McLamb and husband, Danny, and Myra Vandy and husband, David; and her brother, Craig Yelverton and wife, Sherry. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Stephanie Kaminchak and husband, Mike and Jordan Jones and husband, Eric; and two grandchildren, Evan Kaminchak and Kennedy Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Turnage.

The family will receive friends today from 6-7 p.m. and following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Leonard Edmundson, 4598 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.
