MOUNT OLIVE -- Jimmy Ray Lane, 48, passed away Friday evening at Wayne Hospital.
A service to celebrate his life and to honor his memory will be held Tuesday, May 8, at Cricket Ridge Church with the Rev. Mrs. Juanita Hollowell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the service, and also at the home of Joyce Kelly Jernigan, 237 Woodridge Drive in Mount Olive.
Jimmy Ray graduated in 1982 from Southern Wayne High School. He had been employed as assistant manager with the 117 Truck Stop before it closed and was a member of the Cricket Ridge Church.
He is survived by a sister, Beverly Lane of Mount Olive; a brother-in-law, Michael McCumber of Grantham; two nieces, Brittney Lane and Victoria McCumber; two great-nephews, Blake and Noah Bauman; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Kelly Lane; his father, Jimmy Lane; and a sister, Debbie Lane McCumber; and his stepgrandfather, Bill Jones of Dudley.
Instead of flowers, any contributions toward funeral expenses would be appreciated by the family.
Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive is handling the arrangements.
