ELIZABETH H. SUTTON

Elizabeth Hatch Sutton, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Elizabeth was born in Wayne County May 9, 1915, to the late Edwy G. Hatch and Minnie Collins Hatch. She was married to C.V. Sutton Sr., who preceded her in death March 24, 1995.
Elizabeth began working early in life at Johnson Cotton Co., and in later years at Belk.
Above all, she was a caring, loving mother and grandmother whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.
Elizabeth was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. She was devoted to her church, and had been involved with the ministry of the XYZ Club. Elizabeth was involved in many of the ministries at the church, where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.
She had also been a member for 37 years of the David Williams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 4, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. in McChesney Hall at First Presbyterian Church, followed by a service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, with pastor Carol Pierson officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, C.V. Sutton Jr. and wife, Betty Rose, of Grantham and Don C. Sutton of Goldsboro; her daughter, Ann S. Jones and husband, Dennis, of Hope Mills; her granddaughters, Angela Thomas and husband, Rick, and Jennifer Haggins and husband, Jamie; and her great-grandchildren, Jordan Thomas, Chance Bennette, Jared Thomas, Bailey Haggins and Jay Haggins.
She is also survived by her sister, Louise Deluca of Faison, and her sisters-in-law, Beverly Hatch of Mount Olive and Fannie Hatch of Goldsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.V. Sutton Sr., and her brothers, Ira Hatch, E.G. Hatch and Walter Hatch.
