DORIS T. SUTTON

Doris Taylor Sutton, 89, passed on to join the Lord and her family in heaven Aug. 20, 2011.
Doris was the daughter of Henry and Mary Taylor of Grantham community. She was the youngest, and the longest-surviving, of the five Taylor daughters, Lilly, Clara Lee, Elmer and Elizabeth.
She married Claxton Sutton Nov. 22, 1942, and remained at home while Claxton served in Europe during World War II. At the war's end, they lived for a year at Rosewood, and then moved to Farintosh Farm, a 3,000-acre plantation near Durham, where Claxton was the farm manager for 10 years. She often said that those were the happiest days of her life.
In 1956, they returned to Rosewood, where Claxton worked for the REA.
She moved to Gastonia a year after Claxton passed away in May of 1992 to be near her daughter and her family.
Doris' daughter, Karen Cox, passed away July 24, 2010.
Doris is survived by her son Everett Sutton and his wife, Debbie; her son-in-law, Leon Cox; her five grandchildren, Kymberly Corcoran and her husband, Sean, Kenny, Krissy, Charlie and Casey Sutton; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Aedan Corcoran.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro, N.C.
