B. THURSTON LETCHWORTH

LAGRANGE -- Benjamin Thurston Letchworth, 80, LaGrange, passed away Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011.
Thurston was born July 4, 1930, in Greene County to the late Benjamin Greene Letchworth and Bessie Leneave Letchworth.
Thurston served with the United States Army.
A tireless worker, Thurston was the longtime owner and operator of Letchworth's Body Shop.
Thurston was a member of Snow Hill Moose Lodge, former member of the Jaycees and assisted with the Boy Scouts Of America. Thurston enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a renowned conversationalist.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronnie Hobgood and the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
Thurston is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dixie Bunn Letchworth; three sons, Mike Letchworth and wife, Vicky, of LaGrange, Charles Letchworth and wife, JoAnn, of LaGrange and David Letchworth and wife, Tina, of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Michelle Garon and husband, Chris, Jessica Letchworth and fiance, Dennis Simerly, Jeremy Letchworth, Marshall Letchworth, Carrie Letchworth, Sarah Letchworth and Mitchell Ann Letchworth; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Garon and Emma Grace Garon; three sisters, Dorothy Robinson of Clinton, Gladys Horne of Fayetteville and Dixie Dixon of Spring Garden; two sisters-in-law, Fay Letchworth of LaGrange and Helen Letchworth of Gloucester, Va.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Thurston was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Wilson, and four brothers, Leo, Larry, Hally and Maurice Letchworth.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening following the service, and at other times they will be at the home.
